  • American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Blended Training Course

    Enjoy the convenience of a blended learning class for your certification. Complete the majority of your coursework online (at your own pace), then finish your course in the classroom with our instructor. This American Red Cross course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for childcare workers. Learn how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant until professional help arrives. The course covers the four steps of first aid and first aid skills such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as child CPR AED, infant CPR and optional modules in adult CPR AED, child mask, infant mask and Asthma Care Training for Childcare Providers. *The instructor will provide an online course link within 48 hours after registration. Students must complete the online portion before attending an onsite check-off session with the instructor. If the online portion is not completed before the onsite session, you will be turned away from taking the onsite class. The onsite session is scheduled for 1.5 hours, which allows time for you to practice on a manikin prior to the final check-off with an instructor. Certification Received: American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid & CPR (valid for two years) * Please be sure to have your current email address listed to gain the link to the online section of the course.

Take a right, ring the buzzer to let us know you are here. The screener will come to get you for your appointment. Please note: A child must have one parent attend the appointment or have prior written parental consent before a child will be screened. Important Note: There is no charge for screening, but you must add this course to your cart and complete the checkout process to be enrolled. An email confirmation will be sent to you to confirm your appointment enrollment. You will also receive an email reminder a couple days prior to the appointment. (Check your Spam or Junk email folders if the email doesn't come directly to your inbox). Please bring copies of your child's immunization record and birth certificate if they are available to you.     Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

    This course requires participants to complete online learning prior to in-class skills sessions. Please make sure to provide a valid email address when completing registration. The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. The Blended Learning format allows students to work independently on theory through a series of informational videos and tutorials. They then present what skills they learned in a hands-on class. See below for course requirements. Upon completion of this course participants will receive American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years. They May course will also train individuals in Emergency Oxygen Administration and receive American Red Cross certificate for Administering Emergency Oxygen valid for 2 years. April 26th-28th (Full LG class, without O2) 4/26- 5-9pm, 4/27- 7:30am-5pm, 4/28- 7:30am-5pm May 2nd-5th (Full LG class, with O2) 5/2- 5-8pm, 5/3- 5-8pm, 5/4-8am-5pm, 5/5- 8am-5pm This certification is FREE for youth ages 15-21 who live in Hennepin County! Prerequisites • Must be 15 years old on or before the final day of the course. First Day Pre-Course Swim On the first day of class, you will be required to complete the pre-requisite swim which consists of: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest: Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed) Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Therefore, if you wear contacts, please plan on bringing your glasses or a case for your contacts. No exceptions Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Course Length • Approximately 7 hours for online learning • Approximately 22-24 hours for in class skills Please note: Course times may vary to include breaks. Certification Requirements • Attend and participate in all class sessions. • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities. • Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios. • Pass the CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with minimum grades of 80 percent.     Always wanted to learn how to do stained glass? Here is your chance to give it a try without investing in the tools. Choose from a large variety of patterns and lots of glass colors. Learn how to score and break glass and shape it with a grinder to match each pattern piece and solder your glass design. You will go home with 1-2 suncatchers they can hang in a window or a unique gift. You will learn all the steps necessary to continue on your own. All the tools and supplies will be provided. See online confirmation for suggested attire for the class. * Please have current email listed in your profile for confirmation notes. Please bring a good pair of safety glasses. Bring your own lunch to class along with a water bottle. Please wear clothing with a smooth hard finished surface, like denim or t-shirt knit. Glass chips will stick in sweaters, fleece or lace. Best to wear shirts with a high neckline. Shoes should not have open toes, or open tops (like a slip-on), also leather is better than a mesh that would catch glass chips.

In the first half of camp, learn tricks pro filmmakers use for better shots, capture gameplay, add sound effects. You will also learn to use our film editing software in a class project. Then, in the second half of camp, students will create their short videos. Choose from capturing a Minecraft, Lego Racer, Minesweeper, or Solitaire session. Edit your video, add transitions, and insert a soundtrack. Finally, share your finished video with the world. Bring a USB drive (at least 8 GB) to save your games on the last day.
