This advanced course is for students who have had previous Spanish classes and are looking to take their skills to the next level. Advanced Spanish will focus on the past tense (preterite and imperfect tenses) and more complex grammatical aspects of conversation including verb tenses and conjugations. Students will learn to express things they’ve done in the past in Spanish as well as broaden their conversational skills. Applicable to new students and previous Intermediate Spanish conversation participants. Ability to access zoom and basic working computer knowledge essential.

The primary focus of the class will be on building conversational tools in Spanish through interactive practice and exercises. Vocabulary topics will include common greetings and introductions, pronunciation, numbers, food, clothing, likes and dislikes. Grammar topics will include subject pronouns, the verb estar conjugation, gender of nouns, and plurality. Participants will learn how to carry on small conversations in Spanish and each class will include interesting cultural anecdotes including Spanish word origin, dialect differences, and names in Spanish. *Ability to access zoom and basic working computer knowledge essential.

Participants will continue with practical conversational components and builder phrases in Spanish enabling them to carry on small conversations related to giving and asking for directions and restaurant conversation. Vocabulary and grammar components will include weather, seasons, dates with months, days of the week, family vocabulary along with the verbs ser and tener conjugations. Culture discussions will include the importance of food, family, and friendships in Spanish speaking countries. Applicable to new students and previous Beginner Part 1 Spanish conversation participants. Ability to access zoom and basic working computer knowledge essential.

Intermediate Spanish is specifically designed for the adult learner who has taken some Spanish in the past but wishes to improve conversational skills. Grammar and vocabulary concepts will include present tense AR verb conjugation, infinitive verbs, future tense with the verb IR, adverbs of frequency, useful prepositions, and more. Participants will practice conversation skills including learning how to make plans and discussing preferences in Spanish. Culture discussions will cover holiday traditions and celebrations in Spanish speaking countries. Like all Futura classes, a dynamic interactive approach will be used to keep the class fun and exciting! Applicable to new students and previous Beginner Spanish Part 1 and 2 conversation participants. Ability to access zoom and basic working computer knowledge essential.

Join this class, to make 4 beautiful Alcohol Ink (AI) glass Glitter Ornaments After prepping the ornaments, the instructor will discuss and demo various processes of working with AI. Then you will pick colors of your choice to create unique ornament for yourself or as a gift. Note: Each ornament can reflect the same color scheme or each ornament can be a different color scheme. Totally your choice! The ornaments are painted on the inside so the colors will last forever. **Supply fee of $20 (cash) will paid to the instructor the night of class. Additional ornaments can be purchased in cash from the instructor in class for $5/per ornament.
  • Alcohol Ink Painting:Burst of Sunflower

    Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Abstract Art that is fun and Colorful? Create a unique Burst of Sunflower using vibrant inks that create a one of a kind abstract art piece! Alcohol Ink (AI) is a new painting technique that just screams ABSTRACT. With so many different techniques, AI will soon become a favorite medium. To make your sunflower, you will first lay down ink for the center. The next step is to create the petals. The petals will be created using a hand rubber blower. Remember that this is abstract so don’t worry that each petal is perfect. The last step is to create the center by dropping various colors to brighten and create depth in your flower. Remember this is the fun part – explore your creativity. Your instructor will help guide you through each step. Just come to have fun and enjoy yourself. Best part of using Alcohol Ink is if you don’t like a part of your picture, you can wipe it off with Isopropyl alcohol. **Supply fee of $15 (cash) will paid to the instructor the night of class. You will make one 6” x 6” painting in your chosen colors. Given time, you can create a 2nd painting with a white or black background.

    Known as the Zumba ‘pool party'! Fast and slow rhythms combine with resistance training to make you sweat.Expect to do exaggerated dance moves. The tempo is slower than normal Zumba because of the resistance of the water. You’ll do large muscle movements such as: Reaching up with your arms and lifting your legs in the water. Slow exaggerated circling of your hips and shoulders. Aqua Zumba is different to aqua aerobics, aerobics goes from one point to another. Zumba has you doing something different for the verse, chorus and even bridge of a song. If you want to get a little fitter and are the sort of person who has to swing their hips to the right song, then Aqua Zumba is for you. You’ll also burn around 350 calories a class!

    Explore the wonder of watercolor painting by learning fundamentals and techniques of this exciting medium. This course is intended for the novice to beginner; you do not need prior experience to enroll in this class. There will be a set curriculum to help you understand and feel comfortable as you discover your artistic journey using watercolors. This 5 session course will begin with a few painting exercises and finish with two completed paintings. Supply list can be found here. Course Objective: Plan to experiment and explore the traditional water color painting techniques – In this case we will be studying the personality of watercolor. What makes the watercolor do what it wants to do? This class is for the first time painter or someone who has tried watercolor before but would like to get a better understanding of how it works. Our goal is to have at least one excellent painting by the end of the session. Plan to have group critiques and discussions throughout the session. Please come prepared to discuss: Your level of experience: Novice, Beginner, etc., what art is for you, what makes a good painting, why you want to be a painter, your interest, hobbies, and just all around conversations. Our first day: We will have brief introductions to include: a discussion about the questions above, why is it called watercolor and not colored water? Getting ready to paint, and dabbling in a few watercolor painting exercises.     Discover the beauty and grace of Middle Eastern Dance, commonly called Belly Dance. This is more than an exercise class. Belly Dance is an exciting way to improve fitness, tone and flexibility. This class is for beginners and the more experienced students looking to improve the basic techniques and movements. Previous dance experience is not necessary. All ages and sizes are welcome. *Wear comfortable, fitted clothing so your movements can be seen. Hip scarves are encouraged and welcome. If you have zills and a veil, bring them too!     Enjoy the convenience of a blended learning class for your certification. Complete the majority of your coursework online (at your own pace), then finish your course in the classroom with our instructor. This American Red Cross course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for childcare workers. Learn how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant until professional help arrives. The course covers the four steps of first aid and first aid skills such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen, as well as child CPR AED, infant CPR and optional modules in adult CPR AED, child mask, infant mask and Asthma Care Training for Childcare Providers. *The instructor will provide an online course link within 48 hours after registration. Students must complete the online portion before attending an onsite check-off session with the instructor. If the online portion is not completed before the onsite session, you will be turned away from taking the onsite class. The onsite session is scheduled for 1.5 hours, which allows time for you to practice on a manikin prior to the final check-off with an instructor.
