Crochet for Beginners

Adult Enrichment / Create -
Adult Enrichment 25-26

No experience is needed! I will teach starter skills (holding your hook, make a chain, and simple stitches. We’ll also cover yarn basics, crochet tools, popular terms and how to read simple patterns. Note: The class will work toward making cotton washcloths and coasters. Everyone learns at a different pace, so extra practice may be needed to fully master the skills and complete the projects.

Please bring these supplies to class:
  • Yarn: Instructor will have a variety of yarn to try at the first class including a couple cotton types and acrylic types. After trying the options, you can purchase the yarn you want to complete the class projects before the second class.
  • Hooks: Pack of crochet hooks that include two or three hooks that fall between 4-5 mm size. Make sure you check the hook sizing according to the "mm" size. They are also labeled with letters - but the mm size ensures you get the right thing. Chubbier handles are often considered easier for beginners but the metal style hooks will work, also.
  • Scissors that can cut your yarn
  • Pen/pencil and notebook to take notes
