CAHOOTS is a self-led summer program that keeps academic skills sharp through math and language arts workbooks.
Join us for an immersive workshop with Marlena Myles that explores how augmented reality (AR) can uncover hidden stories embedded in the landscape. We begin with a screening of Realms of Resilience, a documentary showcasing how AR can bring Indigenous knowledge, history, and memory to life in meaningful and empowering ways.
After the film, participants will experience AR storytelling firsthand by interacting with live AR demos through QR codes. These experiences will reveal how digital layers can transform spaces and make unseen narratives visible. (Please bring a phone or iPad)
Finally, through a guided hands-on activity, participants will design their own AR storytelling concept. Using drawing techniques and interactive prototyping, they will imagine what stories could be revealed through AR—whether it’s lost histories, ancestral connections, or cultural symbols that reclaim space.
By the end of the session, participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how AR can be used as a tool for storytelling, reclamation, and Indigenous visibility, as well as a concept for their own AR project.
Please pre-register by April 16
What to Expect:
This workshop is open to anyone interested in the intersection of technology, culture, and land-based storytelling. No prior AR experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
