African American Heritage Tour

Adult Enrichment / Local Tours & Travel -
Adult Enrichment 24-25

Join us to witness the legacy of advocacy and the path toward equality in Minnesota’s Black community.

Embark on an enriching and thought-provoking journey through history on this guided tour. Begin with Unbreakable: History from 1800-1950s, exploring the powerful story of African Americans settling in Minnesota and their resilience in shaping the state.

From there, we move into the era of Black Liberation, diving into the courageous efforts of advocates fighting against discrimination, securing voting rights, pushing for school desegregation, and championing fair housing accommodations in Minnesota from the mid-1800s to the 1960s.

This tour also features a newly added section on Voting Rights in Minnesota, The Black Vote, highlighting the tireless struggle for suffrage and the remarkable rise of Black elected officials in the state. With stories of perseverance and triumph, this tour will deepen your understanding of Minnesota’s complex history and the ongoing fight for justice.
