Would you like to grow strawberries, blueberries or other fruit in your own backyard? Learn how easy it is to select fruit varieties appropriate for Minnesota; to plant, prune, and maintain the plants for health and maximum yield; and to control insects and disease to ensure a fruitful crop. We will discuss strawberries and raspberries in detail, as well as, blueberries, apples, cherries, plums and honeyberries. *Class is held online. Please have email information listed in your account. Are you prepared for unexpected events and emergencies that happen in life? Gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be prepared before, during and after disasters or emergencies. Learn about various types of emergencies - weather, fires, loss of services, etc. and what skills, food and supplies will help you get through them safely.

You'll learn how easy it is to grow your own vegetables, including tips on site selection, soil preparation, seed starting, fertilizer, garden design and layout. You'll learn why when you plant makes a difference. We’ll discuss the essentials of disease, pest and weed control techniques, composting, the best time to harvest and how to extend the growing season. Using University of Minnesota research-based information and the instructor’s many years of successes and failures, this class will get you excited to grow and harvest your own vegetables. *Class is held online. Week 1: In this introductory class, we will review the home electrical system, different types and gauge of wire, application and safety. Proper techniques discussed for stripping wire, attaching to outlets, switches and light fixtures, as well as test equipment. Bring straight and Phillips screwdrivers, long nose pliers and wire stripping pliers to class if you have them. Week 2: Continue learning by attending this hands-on class. You will install single pole and 3-way switches, outlets and light fixtures to energize a light bulb and test the circuit. We will discuss proper installation of different light fixtures and ceiling fans. Prerequisite: Please bring your tools from Repair Class Week I.
