How does viscosity affect the way your slime turns out? Learn the basics of non-Newtonian fluids with oobleck, slime, and making your own jam! Join us for a week of fun and scientific findings as we work through the rules of what it means for a substance to be non-Newtonian by engaging in thoughtful, hands on experiments making Slime and other non-Newtonian substances including chalkboard slime. Learn how to take exact measurements for slime that comes out perfectly each time, as well as tips and tricks for softer, stretchier, or more stiff slime. Week 3: Summer Explorers - Water Fun!(Gr K-5)Summer ExplorersJuly 10 - 13: Water Fun! Splash into a week of water themed crafts and activities, including creating a 3D fish among other projects. Join us for a week of cool, wet fun and learn some new things in the process. Students will have fun participating in water themed activities including creating a 3D fish, learning about Marbled Paper Making, and constructing a vessel for the Drippin' Dash relay race. Week 7: Summer Explorers- Nature Explorers (Gr K-5)Summer ExplorersAugust 7 - 10: Nature Explorers Nature is all around us! This week is about connecting with the wildlife in our community. Spend some time outside getting to know which critters can be found here. Can you identify the animal tracks we find? Can you tell what tree a leaf came from just by looking at it? How do bird nests stay together? If you've ever wondered the answers to these questions, join us for a week of nature exploration & activities. The week will begin with a geology themed rock hunting and polishing. Next we will learn how birds make their homes, and even spend time gathering materials to hand-craft our own nests. The following day will be focused on capturing nature through the lens of a camera, with the end of the week culminating in a Creepy & Crawly creature hunt.
