  • Armstong High School Private Voice Lessons

    * This is course is only available for Armstrong High School Students. This is not open for public registration. Private lessons for Armstrong Students ONLY* The instructor, Patty Kramer, Matthew Tintes, Kirsten Hoiseth Thayer or Nathan Bird will contact you to set up dates and times of your chosen sessions. Ms.Kramer offers both 30 minute or 60 minute lesson options at 4, 6 and 8 lesson packages. Mr. Tintes offers 30 minute lessons at 4, 8 and 12 lesson packages. Nathan Bird offers 25 minute lessons at 8 lesson packages Please see below for more information on each instructor. Instructors Name - Patty Kramer Bio: Patty Kramer (mezzo-soprano) is a private voice teacher and performer livin’ and thrivin’ in the Twin Cities area. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN), a Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, OH), and is ABD (all but dissertation) with a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before moving to the Twin Cities, Patty worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice for Peru State College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln teaching applied voice and Musical Theater Studies. She also worked as a vocal coach for the Broadway Academy in Sutton, NE for five seasons. Nowadays, you can find Patty working at Westminster Presbyterian Church as a section leader, singing with the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, coaching at VESOTA (VocalEssence Singers of This Age), or teaching voice lessons at AHS. Her favorite hobbies include reading fantasy novels, playing with her two cats, trail running with her husband Eric, and consuming copious amounts of cold brew coffee and dark chocolate. Instructors Name - Matthew Tintes Instructor Bio: Matthew Tintes is a private voice lesson instructor, performer, and choir director. Originally hailing from Fargo, ND, Mr. Tintes is a graduate of North Dakota State University, earning a degree in Vocal Music Education. Mr. Tintes then attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he earned his Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. For seven seasons, Mr. Tintes was part of the nationally and internationally acclaimed men’s vocal ensemble, Cantus. While with the Minneapolis based Cantus, Tintes got to perform and tour the country, and the world, as well as record several albums, and appear on various popular programs such as A Prairie Home Companion, and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. In addition to his studio of approximately 40 students and directing The Hosanna Choir at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN., Mr. Tintes also maintains an active performance calendar, performing with ensembles in and around the Twin Cities. Instructors Name - Nathan Bird Instructor Bio: NathanBird, tenor, is a Minneapolis based performer, concert producer, and voice teacher. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Northwestern-St. Paul and a Master of Vocal Performance degree from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. As a singer in choral, musical theater, and opera settings, his performance credits have included the International Opera Theater, Cantus, Guthrie Theatre, Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, the Distinguished Concerts International New York, and the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ holiday concert series with his annual production of A Three Tenors Christmas. Collaboration and creativity are pillars of Nathan’s career, as seen in his recordings with the guitars of The Massif Trio, his production of concerts with his vocal trio The NorrSound Tenors, and his recent pilot Hike and Sing with the Loppet Foundation. When he’s not singing or spending time with family, Nathan loves hanging out in nature evidenced by his 40-mile solo backpacking adventure on the Superior Hiking Trail in July and recent trail half marathon at Theodore Wirth Park. * If your child receives funds from ISA, Booster, etc., you will need to call us at 763-504-6990 to register.   • Cooper High School Private Voice/Piano Lessons

    * This is course is only available for Cooper High School Students. This is not open for public registration. Private lessons for Cooper Students ONLY* The instructors, James Buxton & Dan Wanamaker will contact you to set up dates and times of your chosen sessions. Mr. Buxton offers 30 minute voice lesson options at 2, 4, 6 and 8 lesson packages. James has an active studio comprised of high school and college level young artists. His studio boasts many university graduates and active professional singers. Students of James Buxton have been accepted into some of the nation's premier music schools such the Juilliard School of Music and the Boston Conservatory. Former students include graduates of the Boston Conservatory (Music Theater); the University of Minnesota Music School; University of Iowa; St. Olaf University; and Concordia (Fargo-Moorehead) University. Mr. Wanamaker offers 30 minute piano lesson options at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 11 lesson packages. Dan Wanamaker is a Minneapolis-based pianist, singer, and composer. He loves playing piano for singers, and enjoys uniting voice and piano to create an artistic expression that is greater than either of them alone. He holds a Master's degree in Piano Performance from Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he served as a Graduate Assistant accompanying the MSU Concert Choir and voice studios. At MSU, he accompanied the recitals of four vocalists and gave two solo piano recitals. He now serves as a collaborative pianist accompanying voice students at Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter, MN. He is the pianist for South Metro Chorale in Prior Lake, MN, and Beer Choir Twin Cities. He plays organ for Mount Olivet Home (Minneapolis) and sings in the Minnesota Renaissance Choir. He enjoys singing early music, playing 20th-century piano music, and composing baroque-style counterpoint. Prior to his graduate program, he accompanied for the Apollo Male Chorus (Minneapolis) and the Menomonie Singers in (Menomonie, WI). He has sung with MPLS/imPulse, Gregorian Singers, Apollo Master Chorale, Popup Choir, the Cathedral of St. Paul Choir (St. Paul, MN), and the St. Clement's Episcopal Church Choir (St. Paul). * If your child receives funds from ISA, Booster, etc., you will need to call us at 763-504-6990 to register.     This outdoors focused course will help students learn general outdoor safety and survival tips. Students will learn not only essential tips like how to safely prepare for a hike or safely prepare food and water, but also more exploration focused activites such as building their own outdoor shelter with a team using only materials avalible in nature and what may be reasonably packed in a hiking pack.
