  • Alcohol Ink Roses

    Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Abstract Art that is fun and Colorful? Alcohol Ink (AI) is a new painting technique that just screams ABSTRACT. With so many different techniques, AI will soon become a favorite medium. To make these beautiful roses, you will be using a hairdryer to move the alcohol ink around the edges until the ink dries leaving beautiful roses with abstract petals. To add variation, you can add a background before you add the roses, add leaves or melt the colors. Utilize various colors for your individual painting. Remember this is the fun part – explore your creativity. Your instructor will help guide you through each step. You will make one 6” x 9” painting in your chosen colors. Given time, you can create a 2nd painting. Just come to have fun and enjoy yourself. Best part of using Alcohol Ink is if you don’t like a part of your picture, you can wipe it off with ISO alcohol. Note: This class does use Isopropyl Alcohol **Supply fee of $15 (cash) will paid to the instructor the night of class.
  • Amigurumi Crochet

    Start learning amigurumi, the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting stuffed animals. Learn the magic ring, color changes, no-sew tricks, and new stitches. Great for beginning crocheters who know the basics (like holding your yarn, chains, simple stitches, etc). There is no guarantee you'll master everything in the class but you'll go home with the yarn and patterns for all three projects. A $7 material fee is paid to the instructor at class via cash or Venmo. Purchased supplies include fiber-fil stuffing and yarn for these projects: the chicken, the pig, and the ice cream cone plus small bits of yarn colors for facial details on the pig and chicken. You Bring to class: Hook: recommended size between 7mm - 8mm. It can be a metal or plastic hook - both work fine with this type of yarn. Stitch marker: cheap ones available but definitely bring your own if you have a preference Scissors that can cut your yarn Upholstery needle - for weaving in your loose ends Pen/pencil and paper for note taking

Using the grid method, basic shapes and constant line, the instructor will demonstrate three methods of how to draw what you see with attention to light source, shading, and textures. Participants can choose from a variety of beads, baubles and bling to incorporate into their creations. Ages 13+ welcome to register with a registered adult. The end result is a beautiful mosaic that reframes a perspective, instilling a sense of hope and healing.
  • Crochet for Beginners

    No experience is needed! I will teach starter skills (holding your hook, make a chain, and simple stitches. We’ll also cover yarn basics, crochet tools, popular terms and how to read simple patterns. Note: The class will work toward making cotton washcloths and coasters. Everyone learns at a different pace, so extra practice may be needed to fully master the skills and complete the projects. Please bring these supplies to class: Yarn: Instructor will have a variety of yarn to try at the first class including a couple cotton types and acrylic types. After trying the options, you can purchase the yarn you want to complete the class projects before the second class. Hooks: Pack of crochet hooks that include two or three hooks that fall between 4-5 mm size. Make sure you check the hook sizing according to the "mm" size. They are also labeled with letters - but the mm size ensures you get the right thing. Chubbier handles are often considered easier for beginners but the metal style hooks will work, also.     Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Abstract Art that is fun and Colorful? Alcohol Ink (AI) is a new painting technique that just screams ABSTRACT. With so many different techniques, AI will soon become a favorite medium. To make hydrangeas, you will paint using a silicone tool and AI in a palette. First, you will outline your hydrangeas to form the base. Then you will fill in the petals of each flower highlighting with white alcohol ink to create depth. To finish your painting, you will add flowing stems/leaves. Your instructor will help guide you through each step. You will have the opportunity to paint hydrangeas on a white or black background. If time permits, you can paint a 2nd picture on the opposite color. Best part of using Alcohol Ink is if you don’t like a part of your picture, you can wipe it off with ISO alcohol. **Supply fee of $15 (cash) will paid to the instructor the night of class.

    Who knew that you could paint with flame!? Grab a friend and give it a go! We will be using torches to create colors and patterns on copper and riveting it to a piece of leather to create a comfortable, wearable piece of art! No experience necessary.     Who wants to play with fire!?! We will be fusing silver using butane torches to create 3 individual silver rings. You can stamp, hammer and shape to your liking. Wear them together or separately.     Mosaic sounds like a fancy, difficult art form however in this class, learn how it can be fun while you mosaic a frame or sign with colorful glass! The glass is precut and stencils are available. Ages 8+ must register with a registered adult. Please indicate if you want to create a Frame or a Sign in the registration.

    Hobby Group: Sumi-e Japanese Brush Painting

    Sumi-e Club Meet with others who share your passion, Or learn a new skill! All abilities welcome. This groups is self-directed, but members are willing to help new comers get started! Bring your own supplies. There is no class fee to participate but there is a $19 annual fee per person. Stop by the Adult Enrichment office at Pilgrim Lane in Plymouth call 763-504-6990 to join a Hobby Group. Sumi-e Japanese Brush Painting Explore the ancient practice of Japanese Sumi-e, a unique style of black-ink brush painting on paper. Join other Sumi-e painting enthusiasts and practitioners for a morning of painting and calligraphy, sharing techniques and learning from one another. The Sumi-e group welcomes both those with experience in Sumi-e ink painting as well as beginners. For beginners we provide instructions and materials for use in class, to get started. Join us to develop your brush painting skills, and experience the peaceful and elegant art forms of Japanese calligraphy and Sumi-e painting.
